Steam Powered Bluegrass is a collection of songs with a train theme, but by no means is it your typical collection of "train songs". We love trains, and there are so many songs out there that talk about them that we had a hard time picking which ones we would include on this project. In the end, we "narrowed it down" to 18 songs that represent a wide range of what might be considered "songs about trains". Being consistent with our live shows and our previous recordings, you'll hear a little of everything . . .

The Ozark Alliance was honored
to win 1st place in the
2008 National Single Mic Championship

On May 17th and 18th, 2008, The Ozark Alliance competed in the National Single Mic Championship hosted by Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. The competition was held in the incredible setting of the Opera House at Silver Dollar City with capacity audiences of approximately 1,000 each day. Out of a field of 13 participating bands, we were honored and thrilled to be awarded 1st place! As a result, we were featured in full-page ads in the September 2008 issue of both Bluegrass Unlimited and Bluegrass Now magazines. We had a wonderful time and would like to thank and congratulate Silver Dollar City for sponsoring such a well-organized and entertaining event. | Who are we and how did we get here???

| | The Ozark Alliance is a Bluegrass band from Salem, Missouri (home of The Dillards). We are also the Vaughn family -- Alex, Jenny, Allison, Robin, & Dennis. Alex, age 19, plays guitar & mandolin and sings lead, tenor, & baritone. Jenny, age 17, plays fiddle & mandolin and also sings lead, tenor, & baritone. Robin (the mom) plays upright acoustic bass and sings lead & harmony. Dennis (the dad) plays 5-string banjo & guitar, sings lead & bass, and contributes to the band's song selection with his songwriting. The newest member of the band is Allison, age 6. She has her own fiddle & mandolin, which she plays as often as she can be persuaded, but having the job of being the "band manager" takes most of her time. . . read more.... | |
